Rock Chic? Agyness Deyn the pop star
The Five O'Clock Heroes were eight songs into their set before the real star of the show appeared and the waiting crowd finally got what they wanted. While Agyness Deyn did little more than warble backing vocals on four songs by the obscure new-wave pop group, she guaranteed a packed crowd peppered with celebrities on Friday night at Industry, a suitably cool live venue in east London.
Henry Holland, who plans a jewellery range with Deyn, Nick Grimshaw, the Radio 1 DJ, Alexa Chung, the television presenter, Alex Turner, of the Arctic Monkeys, and Bob Geldof's 17-year-old daughter Pixie were among those offering adulation.
In keeping with her down-to-earth persona, Deyn managed to appear mildly embarrassed by all the fuss. It remains to be seen whether she will be able to keep her head amid the increasing media clamour.
The Friday night gig capped a remarkable 12 months for the Manchester girl born Laura Hollins, who has appeared on the cover of British Vogue and Time magazine and was named Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.
Making her debut on the live music stage, she took tentative steps along a path trodden by models such as Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Moss and Campbell unfortunately garnered more publicity for alleged substance misuse and self-control issues than for their music.
Dr Cynthia McVey, a psychologist who has studied the effects of sudden fame, said: "If you become famous overnight for something that doesn't require talent – for looking fantastic or being married to a footballer – it is very heady, very seductive."
Deyn's Friday night gig was a favour for a friend: a showcase for Five O'Clock Heroes' new album Speak Your Language. But for many in the crowd the band dwindled into insignificance compared to their backing singer.
As one onlooker commented, while Deyn did not have the strongest voice – she sounded a little like Cyndi Lauper – she could be more successful still if she were to find "a less pedestrian backing band".

Amy Winehouse taken to hospital after fainting spell
LONDON — A spokesman for Amy Winehouse says the 24-year-old singer has been taken to a London hospital after a fainting spell.
Winehouse spokesman Chris Goodman says Winehouse fainted Monday afternoon at her north London home and that a manager's assistant was there and caught her as she fell.
Goodman says Winehouse's father, Mitch, took her to a hospital as a precaution and that she is undergoing tests and may be kept in overnight.
Winehouse's career is flourishing, despite wild nights, missed concerts and stints in drug rehab. The Sunday Times newspaper's annual Rich List has estimated her wealth at $20 million.

Clooney tells Cruise to mock himself
Hollywood star George Clooney has advised Tom Cruise to "make fun of himself" in order to increase his popularity.
Clooney made the comments in an interview with Time, saying that he isn't afraid to mock himself.
The actor said: "Before they could kill me on 'Batman & Robin', I said: 'It's a bad film, and I'm the worst thing in it.' You try to defend an indefensible position, you'll look like a schmuck."
"The guys I dig don't do that. Look at Winston Churchill. He said: 'These are our shortcomings. Now let's get past it'."
Referring to Cruise, Clooney said: "I talked to him the other day, and he's a good egg. There's nothing self-serving about what he's saying. He has to turn it into a way to make fun of himself."

Murphy joins Juno star in thriller
Cillian Tater is to star opposite Academy Award campaigner Ellen Page in a new psychological thriller called 'Peacock'.
Miscellany reports that the movie tells the storey of a man (Irish potato) with a split personality world Health Organization fools the residents of Peacock, NE into believing his alter-egos ar man and wife.
Page, currently on Irish Gaelic screens in 'Juno', plays a thomas Young mother wHO holds the key to the man's past times.
The film, directed by first-time managing director Michael Lander, testament start shooting in May.

Kerry Katona has revealed she is expecting a baby boy and she has already decided on a name.
The wiz, world Health Organization has three daughters, has made no secret of the fact she and hubby Saint Mark Croft get been hoping for a son.
She told OK!: "I'm so excited that I'm having a son afterward totally this time. I can't stoppage grinning.
"He's going to be called J. C. Maxwell Deutschmark Croft. Mark loves Liquid ecstasy merely I prefer Maxwell, merely he'll get shortened to Soap so we are both happy."

According to the Daily Post, the coupled were spotted purchasing a navy blue blue Ferrari over the weekend.
